Shearing Force Calculator

Calculate the required force for guillotine shearing operations. Compare forces with and without rake angle to optimize your shearing process.

  • check_circleCut Length: The length of the cut being made.
  • check_circleRake Angle: Blade inclination angle (typically 1-3°).
  • check_circleForce Comparison: See force reduction with rake angle.
  • check_circleMachine Selection: Choose appropriate shear capacity.

school Theory & Formulas

Shearing Force Formulas:

Without Rake Angle:
F = L × T × τ

With Rake Angle:
F = (T² × τ) / (2 × tan(α))

Where:
- L = Cut length
- T = Thickness
- τ = Shear strength
- α = Rake angle (°)

Rake angle significantly reduces required force!
