Bump Bending Calculator

Calculate parameters for bump (step) bending operations. Determine arc height, step angle, and number of steps needed to achieve a target bend radius.

  • check_circleArc Height: The vertical rise per bump/step.
  • check_circleStep Angle: The angle achieved by each individual bump.
  • check_circleStep Count: Number of bumps needed for the target angle.
  • check_circleBump Radius: Calculate required radius from desired arc height.

school Theory & Formulas

Bump Bending Formulas:

Arc Height:
h = R × [1 - cos(θ / 2)]

Step Count:
n = Target Angle / Step Angle

Chord Length:
c = 2R × sin(θ / 2)

Where:
- R = Bump radius
- θ = Step angle
- h = Arc height per step
- n = Number of steps
- c = Chord length

Tips:
- Smaller step angles = smoother curves
- Typical step angle: 3° - 10°
- More steps = more uniform bend radius
